THE
STORY SO FAR....
The time of the Wizard is over. The day of the Warlock has come It is the 14th rule in the Palandical Forest, home to the great Kings and Queens of the past and bedded deep within the Valley of Traene. Dark times have now fallen on this Kingdom and what was once a lush and beautiful forest is now a baron waste land. Blue skies have now become dark and grey. The earth is sour and clear streams are now black It has not always been this way for its history is rich with tradition and nobility. There was an alliance formed many years ago between the Kings of the Valley which created peace between all of the provinces. Together, they united to defend their land against invasions from across the sea. To this day, no invader has penetrated the borders of the Palandical Forest The Wizards played an enormous role in setting up the alliances and were charged with the role of high council to the King. This made the Wizard the highest power in the land and the most influential figure in the shaping of the modern world. They were rewarded for their services by retiring to the after-world as Kings. But during the 11th rule a sinister plot began to unfold. Some of the younger understudies, resenting the older, wiser Wizards were beginning to use their magic powers against them and others. They were to be known as Warlocks Their power was fuelled by evil and they were extremely hard to stop It was to be in the 13th rule that a new Wizard emerged who was appointed to council the new Queen Orelia. His name was Gresham. He began to study the power of the Warlock and as he discovered weaknesses, he scribed a grail which contained all of these secrets. Gresham no longer feared the power of the Warlock as he now had the power to defeat them. As his power became more noticeable, news of his grail came to their attention. Gresham was to become the greatest of all Wizards and held sway against the Warlocks time and time again during his appointment to the Queen. When it became time for Gresham to retire to the after-world, he handed the grail down to his niece, Calandria. She was a practicing Witch who had learnt the craft from her uncle and pledged to continue on his work after he had retired However, the Queen's only son and sole heir to the throne, Prince Tharon was also being lured. His most trusted friend, the Wizard understudy Wasptrelare had succumbed to the dark craft and was fast becoming lost to the Wizardry commune. Together they plotted a new world after Tharon was King, a world where the alliances would be no more and the entire Valley would be sacked to serve Tharon only. This would become the darkest era in the Valley Tharon did take his place as the King of the 14th rule and immediately appointed Wasptrelare as high council. It was the first time a Warlock had ever held this post. The great Wizards refused to acknowledge the appointment but Tharon continued nonetheless.. He appointed the brutal Mariate as the General of his army who, under orders from Wasptrelare began hunting down the Wizards and Witches of Traene and murdering them. Soon there were few left and those who survived, banished themselves deep within the Ladiven wood, home to the trolls. Calandria fled with her lover, the great warrior Heraldias and her infant son Phenolias to the Ladiven wood to join the others Meanwhile, Tharon built his army and empowered Mariate to sack all of the other Kingdoms. He appointed Statesmen who would rule these Kingdoms on his order only. Tharon slowly began to control the entire Valley and raided most of the Cities and Provinces Wasptrelare had little interest in Tharons exploits. He was far more concerned with the Grail of Gresham, now in the possession of Calandria. He sent parties deep into the Ladiven to find her and retrieve the Grail. Little did he know that Heraldias had already begun building an army of his own which would strike back at Tharon in his very home. But to defeat Tharon, they would have to succeed where no army has before. They would need to breach the borders of the Palandical Forest Only one man could give them the edge to breach the border Lord Folistron, reluctant servant of Tharon, father of Elexendria who Tharon had made his Queen. Folistron despised the King and was forced to give his daughters hand. He would betray the King and risk his life to help Heraldias sack the King The Army now head to the Palandical Forest to restore the modern world |
